The Moon

MaisonDahlBonnema (NO/NL)

The Moon invites the audience on a crazy trip around nothing. In a laid back atmosphere, we’re gonna stretch our brains together and celebrate the subnormal.

Hans Petter Dahl was one of the minds behind the Norwegian cult performance group Baktruppen. Together with Anna Sophia Bonnema he explores the concept of opera in a contemporary format. How unlike the idea of opera can you work, yet still have the work clearly perceived as opera?

In The Moon, an opera for five singers, the whole performance is to be conceived as One Big Song. It is set in a future where solitude, loneliness and the impossibility to communicate, are vaporized and replaced by an eternal adolescence: a life in the middle of countless possibilities. We are brought into a non-existing time and a non-existing situation with no fiction nor reality, only artificiality.

Let’s dig that hole! And make it deep!
